From the Finnish “metropolis” of Jyväskylä come SWALLOW THE SUN, founded in the year 2000. With their unique blend of Death/Doom Metal, Melodic Death Metal, and Gothic Metal, they have long captivated the international scene. 🎶

The band’s most prominent former member is drum beast Kai Hahto (known from WINTERSUN and NIGHTWISH). But instead of blast beats, mid-tempo heaviness and atmosphere reign supreme here. Their emotionally profound lyrics explore loss, death, grief, love, transience, as well as nature and darkness – which is why their music is often described as a “soundtrack to darkness.” 🌘

Throughout their career, SWALLOW THE SUN have evolved their style, yet their signature melancholic melodies and dramatically shifting tempos remain unmistakable. Their extensive discography includes nine albums, among them the monumental, three-part opus Songs From The North I, II & III – an epic monument to darkness. 💀🎻
